Angus was in no condition to be adopted when he first arrived into rescue. Diagnosed with a dental malocclusion about six months previously, his front teeth (incisors) grew very quickly, with the bottom ones sticking out of his mouth and his top ones curling around down his throat. His mom had been taking him for monthly trims, but she recently lost her job and could no longer afford the expense. He was also developing spurs on his molars, and was definitely not eating like a healthy rabbit should have been - CFHRS was very worried about him. Dr. Dan Johnson at Avian and Exotic Animal Care in Raleigh volunteered to take Angus, remove his incisors, and once he was healthy, find him a good home. 4 weeks later, Angus had his surgery, has recovered nicely, and is ready for his new home. He is an active, friendly little boy, neutered and litterbox trained, who's eating habits are the same as every other rabbit - except his vegetables need to be cut into small pieces so he can pick them up. We are very grateful to Avian and Exotic Animal Care for saving Angus's life, and highly recommend their vet hospital to anyone desiring the best in vet care for their rabbit. If you are interested in adopting Angus, please call them at 919-844-9166. For more information on rabbit dental problems please click on the following link: |
